Right skill, right time
Each level has a clear focus and a natural next step. You are never overwhelmed by advanced theory too early, and never stuck repeating beginner drills once you have outgrown them.
Why levels matter
Progress on guitar is not about practising more — it is about practising the right thing at the right time. A beginner drilling advanced jazz voicings gets discouraged; an advanced player still running beginner scales gets bored. A clear level for every skill keeps the challenge just high enough to grow.
Beginner: chords and the neck
The goal is confident, clean chord changes and a first real map of the fretboard. You learn where the notes are, how basic chords are built, and how to play a progression in time. Intermediate: escape the box
This is where most players plateau. The goal is to stop soloing from one pentatonic box and start following the harmony. You learn to target chord tones, choose the right scale for each chord, and connect positions across the neck.
Advanced: harmony and reharmonisation
The goal is command of the harmony itself. You connect guide tones, voice-lead through ii-V-I progressions, and start reharmonising and composing. At this level the fretboard is a landscape you move through freely.
How to know you are ready
You move up when the current skill feels automatic in a real song, not just in isolation. Can you play the progression cleanly? Can you improvise something that follows the changes? When the answer is a relaxed yes, the next level is waiting — and the courses take you there.
